The short version
Nothing is stored on your device until you say yes. On your first visit this site asks whether you'll allow Google Analytics, which we use to understand how many people visit and which pages they read. Until you accept, Google Analytics is not loaded at all — no request is made to it and no cookie exists. If you decline, that stays true, and we keep one small record of the fact you declined so we don't ask again on every page.
We do not use personalized advertising or remarketing. A separate optional checkbox permits confirmed purchase measurement with Google Analytics and Google Ads, as explained below.
The WriteTut application at app.writetut.com is a separate system with its own cookies — see the app below.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to keep. On a return visit the browser hands it back, which lets the site recognise the same device. Related technologies — local storage, session storage and similar — do the same job in a different way.
WriteTut stores your choices and, only if purchase measurement is allowed, a browser attribution identifier. These are described under remembering your choice.
Cookies set on this site
All of the following come from Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-THN7H80P0B), and none of them exist unless you have allowed analytics. If you decline, or simply never answer, they are never created.

Remembering your choice
Your public-page choice is stored in your browser and a shared cookie on writetut.com, so the app can use the same choice. Purchase permission is separate: existing public-page consent does not enable it. With purchase permission, WriteTut associates confirmed token purchases and initial subscription payments with the consented browser attribution identifier and sends the amount, currency, product and anonymous transaction ID to Google Analytics and Google Ads. Subscription renewals are excluded. Names, emails, account IDs, student writing, feedback and results are never included. Signed-in page views and learning activity are not measured, and personalized advertising is disabled.
Our server keeps an anonymous consent record and checks it before delivery. Delivery data is cleared after sending or within 70 hours; a duplicate-prevention record can remain for 90 days. Revocation records can remain for 370 days. Changing your choice stops future collection and queued events; it cannot recall events already sent. Failed revocation requests are saved in browser storage and retried when you return.

After twelve months we ask again rather than assuming an old answer still holds. Clearing your browser's site data removes it, and the question comes back on your next visit.
Other third parties
Two other external services are involved in loading this page. Neither sets cookies, but both necessarily receive your IP address as part of serving the request:
- Google Fonts (
fonts.googleapis.com,fonts.gstatic.com) — serves the typefaces the site is set in. - Render — hosts and delivers this site.
What we don't do
- No personalized advertising or retargeting cookies.
- No measurement of signed-in page views or learning activity.
- No selling or renting of analytics data.
- No use of your writing to train AI models. (That's a promise about the product, not just this website — it's covered properly in the Privacy Policy.)
Changing your mind
You can decline analytics without losing any part of the site — nothing here depends on it. Whatever you chose the first time, you can change it right now:
Checking your current setting…
Switching from allow to decline also deletes the Google Analytics cookies listed above, so it takes effect on this visit rather than only on the next one.
In your browser. Every major browser can block or delete cookies, either for all sites or for this one specifically. Look under Settings → Privacy. Blocking them will not break this website.
Across all sites. Google publishes a browser add-on that switches Google Analytics off everywhere: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
The WriteTut app
app.writetut.com is a separate application on its own subdomain. It sets cookies that are genuinely necessary — keeping you signed in, and keeping your session secure. Those cannot be switched off while you are using an account, because the account would not work without them. How the app handles your data, including your submitted writing, is set out in the Privacy Policy and the Terms of Service.
The app carries the same analytics as this site, under the same answer you gave here, but only on its public pages — signing up, signing in, and its legal pages. Browser page measurement stops when you sign in. Only the separately allowed confirmed purchase event described above can be sent from the server; student writing and learning activity are never sent to Google.
Changes to this page
If the cookies used here change, this page changes with them, and the date at the top moves. There is no separate notification — checking this page is the reliable way to see the current position.
